As the elections get closer, the political tension in Andhra Pradesh is increasing every day. The opposition party, Telugu Desam, is working hard to criticise the ruling party, YSRCP. In doing so, the leader, Naidu, is indirectly going against the NDA government, even though he’s currently aligned with them to run in the elections in Andhra Pradesh. Recently, TDP has been running a large campaign against YSRCP regarding the land titling act, which was actually proposed by the NDA government. The TDP is spreading false information about this act and the YSRCP government in order to gain in the elections.
TDP False Propoganda
The TDP is engaging in extensive false propaganda through digital platforms regarding the land titling act in Andhra Pradesh. Utilising paid artists, TDP is disseminating misinformation through videos, designs, and other creative mediums to instill fear among the public towards the YSRCP government. Various social media handles affiliated with TDP are promoting this content to sway public opinion. In public meetings, Chandrababu Naidu is also asserting this and warning the people that YS Jagan plans to grab the lands of the poor using this act. Naidu is also saying he would abolish this act once the TDP-Janasena-BJP coalition government came into power in Andhra Pradesh.
The Land Titling Act was brought forth by the NDA
Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the TDP, joined forces with the BJP and Janasena for the upcoming elections. Even though Naidu teamed up with the NDA, he’s indirectly criticising the NDA government by spreading false information about the Land Titling Act. This act was proposed by Niti Ayog and drafted by the central government in 2019, instructing all states to follow it.
The TDP’s claims that the act has been implemented in Andhra Pradesh are untrue, as the government has only released its gazette so far. Guidelines for implementing the act in the state haven’t been issued yet. Despite the YSRCP government not announcing its policy, the TDP is making up stories and criticising the YSRCP government.
Here is the fact
The TDP alleges that, according to this act, farmers do not have the chance to appeal any land disputes in civil courts. Instead, they should approach the high court only. Furthermore, they allege that title registration authority would be in the hands of the title registration officer, and he may act as per what the ruling party leaders said. In that case, poor people may lose their rights. However, the fact is that the title registration authority is under the Title Appellate Authority, and the TRO (title registration officer) should act as per the authority’s instructions. The TDP is also spreading misinformation that, according to this act, farmers should approach the high court only to resolve the issues, but the fact is they can appeal to the appellate authority. Moreover, with this act, the title records are safer.

Minister Dharmana’s Clarification
AP Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao clearly stated that their government had previously made it clear they would not implement it in the state. He mentioned that while the central government instructed all states to implement it, their government would do so only after obtaining consensus from all states. Furthermore, he noted that there are petitions in courts regarding this act, and they will reconsider their stance after the verdicts. Until then, their government will not implement it. He expressed anger at the Telugu Desam Party for allegedly spreading false information on this issue.
