Pithapuram is one of the hot seats in the Andhra Pradesh elections, attracting everybody’s attention as Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan is contesting here against YSRCP candidate Vanga Geetha. Pawan Kalyan, who has a tagline of powerstar, is considered a demigod of Tollywood but has politically failed to show an impact on the ground till date. In 2019, Pawan Kalyan contested from the Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram assembly segments but lost both seats. For Pawan Kalyan, this election is like a do-or-die situation for his political career. That’s why the Mega family is also taking this election very prestigiously and campaigning for Pawan Kalyan.
Megastar Chiranjeevi recently released a video seeking support from the voters of Pithapuram for his brother Pawan Kalyan. Pawan Kalyan’s other brother, Nagababu, and his family are also campaigning for him on the ground. Nagababu’s son, the hero Varun Tej, and his wife Padmini are also participating in the election campaign. Heroes Vaishnav Tej and Sai Dharam Tej, nephews of Pawan Kalyan, are also campaigning for him. Producer SKN Varma is also seen conducting door-to-door campaigns in support of Pawan Kalyan.
On the other hand, Jabardasth TV artists are also actively participating in Pawan Kalyan’s election campaign. Hyper Adi, Auto Ram Prasad, Getup Srinu, Sudigali Sudheer, Kirak RP, Rocket Raghava, Saddam, choreographer Johny Master, and many others are campaigning for Pawan Kalyan on the ground. With punch dialogues, they are attempting to attract voters to the campaign. Interestingly, despite being a big star of Telugu cinema, Pawan Kalyan’s image could not secure his victory in the last elections in 2019. However, he believes that campaigning with TV artists may help him win this time.”
Meanwhile, Vanga Geetha, the sitting MP of Kakinada and the current YSRCP candidate from Pithapuram, is quietly conducting her campaign. Artists like Anchor Shyamala are supporting her on the ground. Geetha, who is a local, has a good reputation among the public as she is accessible to everyone. She won from the Pithapuram constituency in 2009 under the Praja Rajyam Party, which was formed and later merged into the Congress by Pawan Kalyan’s elder brother, Chiranjeevi. Both Pawan and Geetha belong to the Kapu community, which holds almost 45% of the vote share in the constituency.
Initially, Pawan Kalyan faced opposition from TDP leader SVSN Varma, who did not want to sacrifice his seat due to the TDP-JSP alliance. However, Varma later supported Pawan Kalyan and actively engaged in campaigning for him, though anything can happen behind the scenes. Even though Pawan Kalyan deployed all his mega family members and Jabardasth comedians in his campaign, the talk of the town in Pithapuram is that it’s not easy for Pawan Kalyan to win against Vanga Geetha. Analysts expect a tough battle here in the constituency.
Pawan Kalyan’s brother Chiranjeevi’s political career remained unsuccessful, as it had little impact in the 2009 elections. Later, Chiranjeevi merged the party into the Congress and returned to his film career. Subsequently, Chiranjeevi’s brother Pawan Kalyan formed the Janasena party but has yet to achieve anything significant. This election will determine the fate of Pawan Kalyan’s political career. If he fails to garner the blessings of the voters in Pithapuram, then his political career will remain a disaster.
