TDP-JSP stalemate: Pawan Kalyan gets an earful from angry Hariramajogaiah

Published on

Chegondi Hariramajogaiah, the self-styled Kapu community torch-bearer, is upset with the continued stalemate over the seat-sharing agreement between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena. He is angry that no decision could be reached on this even after the marathon meetings between TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan of Jana Sena in Vijayawada on Sunday.

Miffed with the dilly-dallying of both the top leaders, he shot off yet another open letter to Pawan Kalyan lampooning the latter for not being effective enough in clinching the deal. The political veteran released the letter to the media in Palakole on Monday.

Hariramajogaiah reiterated his firm opinion that Jana Sena should contest in 40 to 60 seats. He said that the aspiration of Kapus attaining power could not be achieved if the party failed to contest in at least 50 seats out of the total 175.

Using a harsh tone, the veteran leader lectured Pawan Kalyan, saying that Kapus were siding with the Jana Sena chief, not for handing power on a platter to Chandrababu Naidu.

“How will you fulfil your aspirations of safeguarding the state’s interests if there is no proportionate allocation of seats and the power simply bestowed to Chandrababu Naidu? Will you be able to force Chandrababu Naidu to commit to a two-and-a-half year term of chief-ministership to Jana Sena?” he asked.

The chief of Kapu Samkshema Sena also flayed the ‘yellow media’ for its one-sided reportage on the Sunday meeting of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. Taking strong exception to the speculative news that the Jana Sena would only be given 27 or 30 Assembly seats, he sought to remind Pawan Kalyan that helping Chandrababu Naidu come to power should not be the single-point objective in the mission to bring down the YS Jagan government.

According to Hariramajogaiah, that was never the thought process of the Kapu community in its willingness to strengthen the hands of Pawan Kalyan.

The veteran leader also minced no words to say that the TDP cannot come to power without the support of the Jana Sena and that the 2019 elections are a proof of that.

Hariramajogaiah’s latest missive has pushed Pawan Kalyan further into a tight corner. There is simmering anger and frustration among the Jana Sena cadre and the Kapu community over the prolonged uncertainty on seat-sharing. Pawan Kalyan is increasingly coming under fire for his inability to force the issue with the TDP chief.

The crucial meeting ending in a stalemate on Sunday even after several hours of deliberations is adding to the frustration. Already, there are reports that Naidu and Pawan Kalyan are breaking their heads on how to put up a counter show of strength to nullify the impact of YS Jagan’s two ‘Siddham’ public meetings.

It is learnt that, during their Sunday deliberations, the two leaders also devoted considerable amount of time on how and where to hold joint public meetings of the two parties to stay afloat in public perception.

With his back to the wall on the seat-sharing issue, it remains to be seen how Pawan Kalyan will tackle Hariramajogaiah’s latest open letter and the swarm of uncomfortable questions posed.
